We Cubans talk a lot about democracy and freedom, we demand them, we cry out for them, we think we deserve them but: do we Cubans really know what democracy means, how to live in it and how to obtain freedom?
And the answer is No, in real life we don’t know the true meaning of those two big words, we have a slight idea because we have looked it up in the dictionary or heard it in some “speakers” on Facebook or Twitter Spaces.
In order to explain, let’s analyze the concept as most Cubans think, with the stomach. Freedom is when human beings can eat a steak whenever they feel like it and democracy is the power that we citizens have to fire the butcher, and hire a new one, when the very butcher sells us bad meat. There are countries that have their democracy and freedom spoiled because, for example, Cuba. Cubans know very well what it means not to eat a good steak and that they can’t even touch the “butcher” because the guy is a member of the communist party.
In freedoms, the “butchers” don’t play funny because people do take democracy and freedom very seriously. In democracies, if they realize that they are being cheated, they throw themselves into the street with signs, they shout loudly, free the steak, they spend a week without working because they are on a meat strike and in the end they achieved their demands and glory in heaven and on the land mincemeat, rib, steaks, steaks, smoked loin and the blessed ciborium.
Although we Cubans do not really know the meaning of these important words, as a people we have to learn to think and dream about them. Each one of us must make his own idea of what it means to be free and live in a country with democracy because we grew up and were formed under an iron dictatorship and it is shown that this virulence cost many of them.
Not all democracies are the same and not all freedoms are expressed in the same way, some are better than others and, as my old man says, all sadness is bad but there is worse, that is why we Cubans have to open well you will understand so that it does not come, as in fact is happening, one or another smartass with the story that he discovered the brass that recycles garbage and that in the end, by paying attention to him, we extend indefinitely the garbage dump that has drowned us for 63 very long years .
Castroism, which is experiencing its last death rattles because no one believes in it anymore, has no choice but to transform itself, put on make-up and adorn itself with a popular mask to gain followers and continue to control Cuba and Cubans. To that end, it creates movements, parties, associations and leaders without charisma who have the mission of forming states of opinion, convincing that not “everything that has been done is bad” and grouping the new “applause” in the union of the sleeping nonsense.
In Cuba, better said, the Castro-dictatorial regime that prevails in our country must be removed from all the functional or dysfunctional structures where it has taken root from January 1, 1959 to date. This convoluted network of tyrannical domination has to be completely removed from the thoughts and lives of Cubans, including the communist party, the Castro armed forces, the repressive, controlling, monitoring, informer and terror organs of the dictatorship, the role revolutionary currency and the stone of Santa Ifigenia.
The main thing before anything else is to liberate Cuba as soon as possible and we know the only way to do this is to take to the streets at any cost and as soon as possible. After we extirpate forever that terrible cancer from Cuba, then we will be able to sit down and listen to the many proposals that exist to give us back freedom and democracy that we know mean very well.
