The heavy rains that have fallen since early this Friday in Havana have caused flooding in low-lying areas.
The Havana Channel shared several images of the Cuatro Caminos Market area, an area where, due to deficiencies in the sewage system, the water level frequently rises and makes it difficult for vehicles and people to pass through.
“Havana is under water. This is what several areas of the Centro Habana, Habana Vieja and Cerro municipalities look like. Bear in mind that they are considered flood zones,” reported official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso.
On the other hand, the Electric Company reported that due to the heavy rains they are receiving many calls to 18888 due to the interruption of the service, and pointed out that the direct routes of their command post were also enabled: 76463281 to 89.
The photographs show flooded streets and portals and some cars circulating with water almost halfway up the wheels.
“Intense floods cause that could be more complex in the coming hours,” said journalist Jesús Muñoz, who shared images taken at the intersection near Manglar and Infanta streets, in Cerro.
According to the weekly Tribuna, in the capital the rains feel intense at intervals, but they have been continuous all day, which has caused a lot of accumulation of water.
Residents in the city have shared photos on social networks that show the effects of intense rainfall that have also affected vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
In the images that circulate on social networks, people are seen walking with the water up to their waists.
In the Cuatro Caminos area, the residents had to be evacuated in a Civil Defense boat due to the height of the water. it was very high.
